Healing from Trauma

You don’t have to live in a war zone

A traumatic experience can be as common as an automobile accident or as complicated as childhood incest.

You didn’t even realize the experience affected you, but now you’re having serious difficulties in your relationships. Conflict seems to follow you wherever you turn.

It’s difficult to focus on tasks, and your anger seems to flare up out of nowhere.

Depressed, angry, and suspicious of others

You realize that you’ve become overly protective of your children and those close to you. It would be nice to trust people, but there’s just part of you that can never let the guard down.

Waking up hours before the alarm goes off, you feel exhausted after a restless sleep filled with nightmares.

The suffering is immense, but up until now you’ve tried to deal with it all on your own.

Getting help is heroic

These are all signs of traumatic stress and need to be treated by a professional trained in trauma therapy.

If not, they become worse over time and can hinder job performance, relationships or studies.

How many decades are you willing to sacrifice to this despair?

Everyone’s experience is unique

You may think you have no right to feel this bad, because you only experienced emotional abuse. After all, no one hit you. There are different types of trauma and abuse – and they all cause pain.

Emotional and psychological abuse – like when people repeatedly make you feel bad about yourself or call you names – can be as bad or even worse than physical abuse, especially when it is repeated over time.

Sometimes people think that the person who harmed them didn’t mean it or was just a kid at the time.

The effects can still be lasting and harmful if left untreated.

Healing from trauma or abuse is possible

You’ve already survived a traumatic experience; now it’s time to actually heal from it. Trauma-focused therapy will give you the skills you need to stay grounded, to work through anxiety and the things that trigger your symptoms.

It is difficult and sometimes painful to process traumatic experiences and memories which is why I begin with grounding and relaxation exercises.

This way, you have control over the process and are able to determine how much you want to cover in any session.

You’re ready to heal from your trauma

Trauma-focused therapy helps people regain their lives.

You’ll get to know, understand and anticipate your triggers, and develop more effective ways of coping. In short, you’ll get your life back!
